Professor Alkhaffaf is a caring, empathetic and highly knowledgeable surgeon. Honestly nothing but praise for him. He's so kind and encouraging and after speaking with multiple other surgeons prior to my consult with him I knew instantly Professor Alkhaffaf was the best for me. I didn't feel judged or ridiculed for being so overweight. I felt other surgeons i spoke to where very critical of me. He was very encouraging and supportive re my reasons for proceeding with this procedure

From the very first appointment with Professor Alkhaffaf I was put at ease. He listened to my dieting history and I how I had felt over the years trying and failing so many times. He came to see me before my surgery to chat about what was going to happen and what to expect and then came to see how I was afterwards. His patient care is incredible and he truly cares about his patients. I can confidently say he has not only saved my life but also changed it for the better.

I can’t rate Professor Alkhaffaf highly enough. From the first consultation, I felt listened to and understood. At last, a healthcare professional had understood my struggles and acknowledged that my weight gain was due to a complex range of factors. This is something I never got from my GP. He passed no judgement. I have lost over 6.5 stones in little over a year and without sounding overly dramatic, it has transformed my quality of life. All weight related aches and pains are gone and Ive been enjoying a new found love of walking. He helped me to make the best decision I could have made myself. For someone who tends to worry about the “what ifs”, Prof Alkhaffaf’s reassurance was very much appreciated. He even came to see me in the recovery room shortly after my surgery to tell me the procedure had been successful with no complications. This was a huge relief for a worrier like myself! He continues to be supportive and if I need an answer to a question, I know I can reach out through one of the team.

Amazing care from consultantation till after care. Listened to what I wanted and tried his best to accommodate it. No issues with recovery after surgery. And it was lovely to watch him work on myself. Very professional and still very approachable. Would definitely recommend him to everyone.

Mr Al Khaffaf is an amiable, attentive and understanding person. He is friendly and easy to talk to and takes time to listen. The staff at the hospital were lovely and made me feel at ease. The total experience from Mr Alkhaffaf and the team at the hospital was amazing also the aftercare.

I researched weight loss surgery extensively and read many positive reviews about Mr Alkhaffaf, his team and Salford Oaklands Hospital. My initial consultation with Mr Alkhaffaf was in-depth and provided me with all the information I required to make an informed decision about the surgery that would suit me best. Mr Alkhaffaf was reassuring, professional, non-judgemental and very knowledgeable. My surgery went well with no complications, the staff at Oaklands were friendly, kind and professional from pre-op to admission to discharge. The facilities were clean at the hospital and tidy. I felt safe in this environment. The post-op care has been invaluable to my weight loss; the regular check-ins with the dietician (Nichola) and specialist nurse (Maria) have encouraged me manage my food and water intakes, pushed me to move and exercise more, as well as having psychological support to delve into my relationship with food and emotions. Nichola’s knowledge about various cultural dietary intake is also fantastic - she will work through different cuisines to ensure you’re getting the most from the foods you enjoy. Mr Alkhaffaf has formed a team of professionals who will look after you and support the changes you make in lifestyle. I cannot recommend his service for weight loss enough.

After personal research and following a comprehensive interview with Mr Alkafaff in which the pros and cons of the gastric sleeve and bypass operations were explained in full and following his advice agreed to him carrying out a gastric sleeve operation using keyhole surgery at the Oaklands hospital in Salford. I followed all the advice pre op in regards the liver reduction diet and was impressed with the level of contact and care shown by his team. The operation was carried out as scheduled, unfortunately on the evening following the operation, I developed a severe internal bleed, I cannot praise the efficiency of Oaklands staff and the prompt attendance of Mr Alkafaff to supervise my care, I was transferred to the surgical trauma unit at

I had a gastric sleeve a couple of years ago. Mr Alkhaffaf was my surgeon and his entire team as well as himself, have been in regular contact following the surgery. The check ins, the support and encouragement have all been greatly appreciated. Prior to the surgery, myself and my family were provided with all the information we needed and a lot of reassurance. I was up and walking the same night of the surgery and my recovery process was quite smooth. I lost 40.1kg following the surgery and my mental health has never been better than it currently is. I work out regularly and with the help of the dieticians advice and guidance, I eat better than I used to. I can’t express enough how much Mr Alkhaffaf has changed my life for the better. When I first came to see him I was embarrassed and didn’t enjoy going out or doing things due to my weight. I must of asked a 1000 questions and he was so kind and patient with me. I felt he truly understood what was happening to me and how this was affecting me. I was given as much time as I wanted to make my decision on what I felt was best for me. Not once did I feel pressured to make a decision. His secretary was amazing too kept checking on me and also answered my 1000 questions The day of surgery I was so nervous but honestly the staff at the hospital and Mr Alkhaffaf made me feel so relaxed. The amount of effort the staff but in to make the whole process as smooth as possible. Again each staff took time with me and I didn’t feel rushed into anything and I could still ask those silly questions. Mr Alkhaffaf was so professional but made you feel relaxed. He was very clear in his communication and most importantly recovery and what next steps are. After surgery I did everything the team said from the nurses to Mr Alkhaffaf to the physiotherapist to the dietitians. I can now say these people changed my life! I am one year post op and I feel amazing. I have my confidence back I enjoy life. I enjoy going out and I just feel more positive. I now really enjoy running which I do most week days and I’ve even signed up for my first Marathon. I have reached my target weight and couldn’t be more happier. All I can say is if your in doubt or nervous speak to the team there are no silly questions and if anything I wish I had done this sooner!
