I would recommend Christian 100% after he removed my gallbladder recently, he was recommended to us by a friend and I felt totally at ease with his professional, caring attitude when meeting him for the first time. The operation was carried out successfully and I was very happy with the outcome. Christian is an excellent surgeon and a lovely, caring person and I was very lucky to have him operate on me.

Christian was fantastic from start to finish. From the initial consultation to post-op follow-up, he was professional, approachable, and clearly excellent at what he does. I even emailed him with a concern on a Saturday morning, and he replied personally within minutes, which really put my mind at ease. The surgery went smoothly, and the recovery has been spot on. I am extremely pleased with the care and expertise provided by my consultant Christian Macutkiewicz, at the Spire Hospital Manchester. I would not hesitate in recommending Christian to any friends or family members given his knowledge, experience and professionalism. Christian was very friendly and reassuring from my first consultation with him, right through to the post-operative clinic (+ final) consultation that I had with him. The reasons for my symptoms were thoroughly explained to me as were the differing treatment options available to me. Christian was also very happy to discuss specific points and answer any and all queries that I had (including some non-medical aspects such as process steps and mechanics of a Private Medical Insurance company being involved in authorising the procedure and then settling the bill). Christian made clear from the outset that were I to have any additional queries or concerns at any point to not hesitate to contact him directly. This was very welcome and made very clear to me that Christian works with and talks to his patients (rather than, as I've seen once or twice in the past, consultants talking 'at' their patients). Christian is supported by very efficient medical secretary staff who were extremely quick at picking up and actioning any requests / queries. A good example of this was an exchange we had around potential surgery date options; clearly these theatre slots can be quickly allocated (i.e. allocated to other patients and therefore becoming no longer available) but Christian's medical secretary ensured that I was able to be allocated one of the surgery date options that Christian proposed (before it was snapped up by another Spire Hospital Manchester patient). This may seem like a relatively small non-clinical point but it speaks to the fact that every aspect of being under Christian's care was seamless and confidence-inspiring - something clearly very welcome for anyone undergoing any medical procedure. From more of a clinical perspective, Christian is clearly a very experienced consultant with lots of surgical experience and expertise. He made sure that I was fully aware of all the lower-level detail that I was keen to understand going into the surgery, and also that I was crystal clear on what to expect following the surgery in terms of recovery and rehabilitation. On the day of the surgery itself Christian made sure to make himself available to me for a discussion ahead of the surgery and also following the surgery. Clearly I will just have been one of a number of surgery patients for Christian that day, but he ensured that he made himself available and (in a very non-rushed manner) was happy to discuss the surgery, how I was feeling, whether I had any new queries or concerns, etc, etc. Essentially, it felt like a very personal and 1-2-1 service - which was very welcome. A final point to call out is that at the post-operative clinic meeting, my final consultation with Christian for this treatment, he made very clear that I should feel free to reach out to him at any point in the future. "You are now a patient for life" was the expression he used, and I think this pretty much sums up how highly I think of Christian. Whether any query I have in the future relates to the specific procedure Christian carried out on me or indeed any other medical issue (even if completely unrelated to the treatment I'd received from Christian), I should feel free to reach out directly to Christian. This confirmed to me that the excellent treatment I received was not just a one-off, time-bound (+ invoice-bound / scope-limited) treatment, but rather that Christian very much has the best interests of all of his patients at heart, not just in the immediate term but also much longer out into all our futures. I cannot recommend Christian highly enough.
