Dr Hisham Maksoud

As someone suffering with ongoing mental health problems (diagnosed as Treatment Resistant Recurrent Depressive Disorder) I contacted Dr Maksoud having found, through my own research, about the relationship between mental health and thyroid function. Knowing nothing more than that there might be something here worth pursuing, I first visited Dr Maksoud at a time when my mental illness was acutely debilitating. I was distressed and frightened. Dr Maksoud was immediately warm, welcoming and compassionate. He talked in terms I could understand, answered my many questions and was reassuringly confident. When I needed to ask a question a few weeks after my visit, I emailed Dr Maksoud's team and very quickly received a personal and helpful response from Dr Maksoud which I shared with my Consultant Psychiatrist (NHS) who respects Dr Maksoud's expertise and is ensuring joined-up care. I have no doubt that I will remain under Dr Maksoud's care. His knowledge, skill, insight, the time he takes to listen and 'whole person' approach mean that I am now able to hold hope for my recovery. Dr Maksoud is an excellent endocrinology consultant. He is very approachable, very knowledgeable and listens to my problems, and is confident in the decisions he makes for my positive healthcare. He goes above and beyond with his time to ensure I understand my problems. His care is holistic and diplomatically picks up the health problems continually caused by other medical healthcare professionals. My care with Dr. Maksoud has extended over many years advising and treating me with unstable thyroid and lipid problems and I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Maksoud if you require the kind of care that I have received and continually receive from him.

My husband has every confidence in Dr Maksoud. After a total gastrectomy and suffering years of mental health issues, partially as a result of this operation, he was recommended to see Dr Maksoud in 2018. A comprehensive blood test revealed several issues which were promptly addressed and new medication prescribed, with immediate beneficial results. I have known Dr Maksoud for 20 plus years and consider him to be deeply caring and dedicated. He is very approachable and takes times to listen to you with much patience. Appointments with Dr Maksoud are often in excess of one hour and one never feels rushed or hurried through the appointment. He gives you time to explain your symptoms and health worries and then explains to you his assessment of your condition in a language that is very accessible. Dr Maksoud leaves no stone unturned in his serach for a diagnosis and treatment plan, he is very hardworking, putting in many hours of clinical work for his patients. I have no hesitation in recommending Dr Maksoud, he turned my life around 20 years go and even though I am now much improved, I continue to see him once a year for blood tests and general review.

Dr Hisham Maksoud was excellent in every way. I suffer from many break downs in my endocrine system and then started suffering seizures. After being told by other doctors that they had no idea what was wrong with me and I was just a complex case and finding that no one really wanted to listen- Dr Maksoud listened! He just allowed me to talk and explain all that had been happening with my health recently. He asked questions at different intervals and wanted to hear what I had to say. He took note of what I said. He not only listened but immediately felt he knew what may be causing my seizures. He set about putting plan in place to help to see if his theory was right and gave me far more of his time than I had expected but he was adamant that I was not leaving his office until we had a plan in place moving forward to help me and he arranged for me to see him again 6 months later, but I could book to see him earlier if I wanted or needed to. I felt so relieved - as did my husband- after leaving his office as his experience and expertise in his field shone through. Dr Maksoud was correct in regard to what was causing my seizures and I have continued to see him every 6 months for the past 2years. In that time I have not had another seizure, and he has gradually helped me to get back to my normal level of health and fitness and helped me to understand my illnesses more. He looks at you as an individual and not a text book and hence why he is able to look outside the box and find what is right for you. Dr Maksoud listened, he showed genuine interest and went above and beyond to help. I would not hesitate in recommending him to anyone.

Dr Maksoud saved my life after several years of symptoms, worsening consequences, inadequate referrals and endless delays. At my first appointment he took hours to know my complete history and began to treat me. I see him every six months, he tracks and trends all my blood-work and immediately addresses issue. Every appointment lasts as long as is necessary as he is so thorough. I dread to think of the consequences had I not started treatment with him. Additionally, he is the kindest mannered and most respectful doctor.

I had struggled with being so unwell with my autoimmune diseas Hashimotos that causes an Underactive Thyroid for 5 years and I am so pleased I made the decision to pay privately to see Dr Maksoud. He listened, he reassured me in our first meeting that he could help me get and feel better and from day 1 we had a plan and a new medication regime to follow. He explained everything clearly so for the first time in 5 years I fully understood what was going on and why but importantly how I could get better. Initially I saw him every 3 months and we slowly built up my medication, I followed a gluten free diet and although it took about 6 months I can honestly say I feel like I have my life back and have felt the best I have ever felt for years and it has sustained. I now see Dr Maksoud just twice a year. He has been a godsend and I'd recommend him without question. I trust him fully. Thank you Dr Maksoud.

Dr Maksoud is not only a fully committed and extremely well educated healer he is a wonderful person. He is genuinely interested in his patients and their wellbeing and nothing is too much trouble. Dr Maksoud is the best person I have met in the 77 years I have danced on this earth

I’ve been seeing Dr Maksoud for several years now. He was the first (of many) doctors who actually listened & understood my symptoms. I had all the physical symptoms of hypothyroidism but my blood tests were “normal” so I was dismissed by numerous doctors for over four long years. Dr Maksoud made sense of all that was happening to me & since being correctly diagnosed & treated I’ve got my life back. I cannot recommend Dr Maksoud highly enough.
